Bought this for the 3rd birthday of my son. Has very little to most trikes tried, but since it has an adjustable seat that can reach the pedals without any problem. It's great! My husband has a bad back so the handlebar on this issue is a lifesaver. Every morning, just Quentin wakes up, he asks if he can ride his bike. This is great exercise for your legs and prepare him when he is big enough to ride his bike with training wheels. After two weeks, my son understands the meaning of the pedals and steering wheel simultaneously. Quentin usually loads two buckets with his toys and put the house keys and my cell phone in the small bag that is attached to the back seat when we take our walks. 18 months my daughter loves to ride on it and he pushes her around, so the belt comes in handy. This was so easy to assemble. The handle can be easily removed, but for now keep it in place just in case you need a little extra help or legs get tired. My only complaint is that the tires are not tires, are plastic. I actually did a lot of research before buying the Schwinn. I love the Flyer Radio brand name, but was leery after reading all the reviews. I am so happy with my choice.
I was looking for a tricycle for my child and wanted something made of metal, not plastic. I've run into Schwinn and loved the design. It was easy to put it all togeter too, took about 15 minutes. It is very durable and offering many years of use - a big plus. Two caddies storage is a great idea, as I always have something in my hands and these are perfect to put your keys and your phone so you can drive your trike without juggling things in your hands. The layout direction parent is very sensitive and practical, it only takes a small turn for the trike to answer. And it is very convenient for a child who is just learning, so you do not have to bend over and walk along holding the handles of the child. (This will give you back issues). Another good word to say about the wheels are rubber so you do not slip on a concrete, dry or wet. Safety belt is a great thought too. Very good quality product.
I am so pleased with this tricycle. As another reviewer wrote - it's easier to steer a stroller. And this is a big transition for when the child continues to need someone to push and provides the opportunity to learn how to coordinate steering and pedal or, in our case, for practical helm until he can reach the pedals. I bought for 2 1/2 year old nephew. Since I still can not quite reach the pedals footrest bar is perfect - essential, really. The only difficulty I had putting the trike together gripped the steering wheel enough to check the steering. I thought it was defective (as other commentators have noted) until my neighbor came with the socket and did his job. The trike has a basket on the front to hold sippy cups, a tray behind the seat for adults to put keys, camera, etc. and a bucket in the back to carry all sorts of treasures. It's advice like a dump truck that my nephew really enjoys! It also has a belt that came in handy when my nephew decided to start up the footrest. Above all the great features, it really is a sharp-looking, attractive trike. I'd buy again, and I would highly recommend it!
The company is great with their customer service! I contacted them a couple of times - once you have set up some sort of insurance or cover over the screws on the seat (which they said was a great idea and will forward my proposal). The other time was because a nut in apparently fell during the year - they're sending me additional screws and nuts. Also explained how to extend and retract the footrest - very easy to do once you know how!
